evil female is a blog of personal essays and cultural criticism written by Charlie Squire (b. June 14, 2000).

Charlie Squire is a PhD student living in Santa Barbara with their cat and collection of Penguin Modern Classics. Before moving to California, Charlie spent two years living in the lovely Berlin neighborhood of Prenzlauer Berg. Charlie is interested in: reading Wikipedia articles, Walter Benjamin, midcentury modern furniture design, 1890s Paris literary salons, dirty martinis with extra olives, Space Age vintage clothing, and lemoncello over vanilla ice cream.

In 2023, Charlie was a research fellow at the Creative Impact Research Centre Europe. This fellowship culminated in the writing of a short book called Slouching, an auto-ethnographic collection of essays about the politics of images and identities in Europe.

Charlie hold a BA in History, Media Studies, and Studio Art from Skidmore College and an MA in Cultural and Critical Theory from Goldsmiths, University of London. Their MA Dissertation was about Playboy’s presentation of sexuality and libertarianism from 1968 to 1972, and they are very proud of it.
